It could be black with armament haki coating, just like we've seen Zoro doing for example (though it probably wouldn't make sense for him to be using armament in his introduction panel. Option (C) - It's not an actual 'black blade', it might just be a normal sword. Option (B) - He picked up a black blade but it was 'unearned' like how Zoro had Shusui despite being nowhere near the level of black blades in Thriller Bark, so he might be meh at using it and is better with his devil fruit instead.
